There are quite a lot of formulas that exist in order to calculate a proper bankroll. Although this brings variance to the game and it is projected to win, there are mathematical calculations that should be considered so that bankroll requirements of a player to play on the poker table are looked after.

The basic strategy is to manage the bankroll. However it varies from game to game and from one poker table to another. Also the factor that affects this strategy is the financial condition and background of the player. In fact there are many factors that decide how a person manages his poker money. Poker - The example of Dan Harrington

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

One need look no further then Dan Harrington for a great example of how the business and poker world’s collide. In fact in his case the comparison of business stretches not only to poker, but cards and gaming in general. Dan Harrington has used his gaming skills for success in business and also his business skills for success in texas holdem poker. He has used his knowledge not only for success at the poker table. He has also experienced huge financial success teaching his principals through successful poker books.

He is a great example of how for some, the two areas are pretty much the same. He has applied his skills at poker chip accumulation to raise money which could then go into solid business ventures. The great part about this is that once your poker bankroll is used to grow a large successful business you can then reverse and use that money to be able to throw your chips around without fear.

So for any budding entrepreneurs out there who also have a hunger for a clay poker chip in their hand, look to Dan Harrington’s story for some fantastic inspiration.

Be careful when playing live poker

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Playing live poker at the poker tables can be very interesting and can be horrendous too. Interesting and advantageous because while you play live poker you actually get to know what is going on in your opponent’s mind. While betting the opponent may sweat. This can be out of nervousness.

One can actually predict the psychology of the opposite person and study his body language while playing with the las vegas poker chip. One cannot be the victim of fatigue, irritation and boredom while playing poker. He has to have a lot of patience. One should also monitor one’s tournament status.

Playing with a chip or even a chip set can be problematic too because here you can’t flinch at least when you get a good hand. One has to concentrate while playing poker. She or he has to only think about the present hand and forget about the previous one.

The person has to be well aware of what the opponent thinks about you. It may be while you are playing with the casino poker chips, the Texas Hold’em chip or even the clay chip. One has to be the highest scorer and has to have the chip lead if he is determined to win.

Facing players who are experts

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

One should not be unmotivated when he learns that his opponent’s a tough player. It doesn’t even matter if you’re a novice at handling the poker chip. Once at the poker tables, one has to remember that it’s just a matter of luck and some skills. Use your opponent’s drawbacks as your plus points. Do not let him or her take advantage of you. Instead you take his advantage. Do not also reveal any uneasiness that you experience. Do not also show that you are nervous. Instead, proceed with self-confidence.

If one’s new at poker then he shouldn’t reveal this at the game. The opponent should think that you are an expert too. You have to handle the chip set with even more care and try to outwit your opponent when it comes to securing the highest number of chips.

It may be the clay chip or any other kind of chip you just have to be the best in getting the highest number of chips and have to have the cheap lead. The same applies for attaining the Texas Hold’em chip also. Be positive when you face expert opponents.

Keeping Focus with Background Distractions

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Some games of poker have an eerie quiet looming around them, others having a cacophonous eruption of sound. Quieter games seem to benefit the players the most as they have a peaceful mind set with just the game at hand. The ones that are electric with sound often cause a loss of concentration as there are many things to get distracted upon. Background noise -unless pleasing- is normally a concentration breaker causing a lack of strategy and focus on what is happening at all times on the table. With this lack there is the chance to miss key betting habits, bluff characteristics, and so on.

The best way to avoid losing concentration due to background noises is to find someone or something on the table to focus on. This causes the background noise to, in a sense, “drown out”. Most likely it is best to stay focused on an opponent; one at a time, to catch any habits in their game. By staying focused on one person and switching after picking up all of their habits (hopefully their poker chips too) and not letting the background distract you, the game can only go uphill.

Overcoming the Distracting Player at the Poker Table

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

A game of poker is what some people do to relax; whether it be playing online or just with friends on a weekend. More than likely there will be at least one player who is on your last nerve just by his actions or odd, over confident -border line cocky- betting habits. This often causes mass frustration for the rest of the poker table and may cause a player to be more aggressive or shy away from betting. As most players have a certain style of playing that they change along the game, a nuisance player like these often cause a change to a more aggressive side as they try to (hopefully) get him to go all in or lose the chip lead so much that they’ll back down.

When a player comes along that tries your patience, the best thing to do is have patience and remain calm. No matter how irritating their betting schemes may be it is key to play your game and not let them dictate your moves. With a good hand there is always the potential that you will knock them back down, giving you two advantages: you have a bigger chip stack and the opponent will finally play in a respectable manner.

Take a look at dealing with difficult players to get more in sights with how to handle these types of situations during your poker game.

Peter wins WSOP!

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

As I was searching through the internet to find some info on the new WSOP champ, Peter Eastgate, I found this great article on how Peter managed to beat out some of the best poker players out there. Owen did a nice job on his article “Peter takes WSOP1″  of describing the moves that Peter took to gain him the win.

This is a very well done write up on the win. Encourage all poker fans that want to take a look at how a champ did it to read the post.
