Be careful when playing live poker

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Playing live poker at the poker tables can be very interesting and can be horrendous too. Interesting and advantageous because while you play live poker you actually get to know what is going on in your opponent’s mind. While betting the opponent may sweat. This can be out of nervousness.

One can actually predict the psychology of the opposite person and study his body language while playing with the las vegas poker chip. One cannot be the victim of fatigue, irritation and boredom while playing poker. He has to have a lot of patience. One should also monitor one’s tournament status.

Playing with a chip or even a chip set can be problematic too because here you can’t flinch at least when you get a good hand. One has to concentrate while playing poker. She or he has to only think about the present hand and forget about the previous one.

The person has to be well aware of what the opponent thinks about you. It may be while you are playing with the casino poker chips, the Texas Hold’em chip or even the clay chip. One has to be the highest scorer and has to have the chip lead if he is determined to win.

Overcoming the Distracting Player at the Poker Table

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

A game of poker is what some people do to relax; whether it be playing online or just with friends on a weekend. More than likely there will be at least one player who is on your last nerve just by his actions or odd, over confident -border line cocky- betting habits. This often causes mass frustration for the rest of the poker table and may cause a player to be more aggressive or shy away from betting. As most players have a certain style of playing that they change along the game, a nuisance player like these often cause a change to a more aggressive side as they try to (hopefully) get him to go all in or lose the chip lead so much that they’ll back down.

When a player comes along that tries your patience, the best thing to do is have patience and remain calm. No matter how irritating their betting schemes may be it is key to play your game and not let them dictate your moves. With a good hand there is always the potential that you will knock them back down, giving you two advantages: you have a bigger chip stack and the opponent will finally play in a respectable manner.

The Basic Strategies of Poker

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

The game of poker is a game of chance. However to increase your chances of bringing in the big bucks, which means avoiding going down to that single chip, you need to understand the strategies that increase your chances. First of all, your dealt hand is where it all begins. Don’t be afraid to fold on the first hand because this is where you really can win or lose the hand. Usually players will only play the pot if they have a pair of cards of at least Jacks. This will ensure that if the flop is lousy, that you will have a good chance of winning with your pair that you were dealt.

One of the other strategies any beginner should know is that bluffing seldom works. It takes a lot of time and patience to have that one hand where a bluff will work perfectly. However most of the time this will not be the case. You can’t be afraid to back out of a hand once you have already played some money. A common mistake among beginners is that they will play out a pot because they are afraid to lose all those high end clay chips that they already put in. When you think about it, it would be better to lose a little than a lot if you know you don’t have a winning hand.

Betting Strategies

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Poker is a game where luck, strategy and ability to bluff is needed to win a game. The kind of cards a player gets depends on his luck. The ability to bluff varies from person to person and a player who can bluff easily and convincingly can mislead his opponents and win the game. Players should try and stay away from toying and fidgeting with their well earned casino poker chips, some times this can be an easy give away if a pattern is picked up by your opponents.

When the opponents fold to a player who is at the dealer button and the player raises the big blind then it is called blind stealing. It is important that a conservative player places a bet when he is the last person to act and all his opponents’ checks to him. This will decrease the number of opponents wishing to see a cheap flop and sometimes it will also lead everyone to fold. If this happens then the player gets the pot by placing a steal raise bet. Opener is a bet that a player places to eliminate all the chasers and it is done when the first person to act raises the big blind. Feeler bet can happen even after the flop and it is placed when the hand is moving slowly and the opponents are just checking. A player should place a feeler bet to know about the strength of his opponent’s hand. Squeezing is a bet used by a player when he has a strong hand.

Texas Hold’em - the game

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

Texas Hold’EM Poker is a favorite game among poker players. It is considered to be an easy game and suitable for novice players. There are no definite guidelines for winning this type of game. Players need to make correct judgment, do proper betting and have loads of luck to win this game. Texas Hold’EM poker is played with a number of players who are dealt two playing cards each and the rest are the community cards which are on the poker table. The players bet and raise their bet depending on the cards they are holding and also the community cards placed on the table. When all the community cards are dealt there is a showdown when players show their hand.

While playing this game it is vital to keep the details of your playing cards to yourself. You should not give any clue about what kind of cards you have. For instance moving your set of 100 texas hold’em chips in a certain fashion can be a give away if you repeat a pattern. If a player wishes to win then he has to keep on changing his style and not play in the same manner repeatedly. If a player does so then his opponents will understand his game and that would not be in the interests of the player. A player should be on the lookout for change in behavior or betting pattern of his opponents. It is a definite clue about his opponent’s hand.

There are innumerous types of poker chips and for the sake of simplicity we can divide them into clay chips and plastic chips. Clay poker chips have been around since a long time. These chips have been changed and altered to suit the requirements by different people. Clay Chips are not made from pure clay now. As these chips break very easily so they have been replaced by clay filled composites which makes the chips stronger and provide greater security. The material and look of the clay chips has been altered during different times. During the last century clay chips were made with printed centers and some embellishment was there on the edges. This was done for security by casinos. Thereafter chips were made with logos and impressions.

Now the chips used at various casinos are quite varied. Different casinos order their chips according to their specific liking. These chips are made using a blend of different materials i.e. plastic rims with metal centers. There may be designs, outlines, prints, etc on the chips and some casinos even get their logos on the chips for greater safety. Clay poker chips are easier to use and handle as they are not slippery. The other types of chips used often are composite clay chips, composite metal chips and plastic chips.
